Thunderbolt - SAAB 37 Viggen
The name Viggen means The Thunderbolt, especially those resulting from the Norse god Thor's warhammer Mjölner.
Viggen is a multi-role fighter, through upgrades still modern and with some almost unique features, in service with the Swedish air force in several versions, since 1971.
Here's another in flight render but with a different texture:

This camouflage has for many become synonymous with the Viggen, but it is actually used on other aircraft for low-level missions. The mix of these colors gives an effective concealment against terrain background, which in Sweden is often covered with forest.
It took me about 10-12 hours to model the aircraft and maybe additional 10 hours to UV-map it and paint the texture. One single 2048*2048 texture is used. I also rigged it to make the movable parts posable.
Thanks and credits:
Thanks for the help I got in the WIP thread and thanks to Jose Carrascal for sending me high-res scans of the Viggen camo pattern.Backgrounds based on a photos from nessus.gunslingers.org and homepage.mac.com/laynesmith
